Membership Options

Associate Membership – Graduate with up to 2 years experience as a supervisor

Membership as an Associate is open to any person currently qualified in their field of work with at least 5 years professional experience and who is currently training to be a supervisor with or has completed an AAOS Recognised Supervisor Training Program (RSTP) or who can provide evidence based on recognition of prior learning (RPL).

Requirements needed

  • 5 years professional experience in your field 
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • Meet the requirements of 1 of the following 3 categories:

Category 1 – I have completed AAOS RSTP training – Theory Only

  • Certificate and transcript 
  • At least 10 hours of supervision on supervision 
  • At least 10 hours of supervision provided  

Category 2 – I am currently enrolled in AAOS RSTP training – Theory & Practice

  • Training Provider Endorsement Form 

Category 3 – Eligible for Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)

  • Evidence of 45 hours of supervision theory 
  • At least 10 hours of supervision on supervision 
  • At least 10 hours of supervision provided 
  • Evidence of how you meet AAOS supervisory competencies

Supervisor Membership – 2 years or more as a practising supervisor

Membership as a Supervisor is open to any person who has at least 2 years experience as a practising professional supervisor and who has completed an AAOS Recognised Supervisor Training Program (RSTP) or who can provide evidence of recognised prior learning (RPL).

Requirements needed

  • Minimum 2 years practising as a professional supervisor
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • Meet the requirements of 1 of the following 2 categories: 

Category 1 – I have completed AAOS RSTP training

  • Certificate and transcript 
  • At least 15 hours of supervision on supervision 
  • At least 80 hours of supervision provided  

Category 2 – Eligible for Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) 

  • Evidence of 72 hours of supervision theory  
  • At least 15 hours of supervision on supervision 
  • At least 80 hours of supervision provided 
  • Evidence of how you meet AAOS supervisory competencies

Supervisor Trainer Membership – 5 years supervisor experience plus educator qualification

Supervisor Trainer Member is open to any person who has at least 5 years experience as a AAOS professional supervisor or equivalent as well as meeting all criteria for AAOS Supervisor Trainer.

Requirements needed

If you are a current AAOS Supervisor Member

  • 5 years as an AAOS professional supervisor or equivalent 
  • Qualification as an adult educator 
  • Prepared and presented at least 3 one day workshops on supervisory theory and practice 
  • At least 30 hours of professional supervision to trainee supervisors 
  • At least 10 hours of supervision on supervision you have provided to trainee supervisors 

If you are currently a non-member you will be required to complete either Category 1 or 2 as well as Supervisor Trainer Criteria.

  • 5 years of professional supervisor experience 
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • 1 of the following 2 categories: 

Category 1 – I have completed AAOS RSTP training

  • Certificate and transcript
  • At least 15 hours of supervision on supervision
  • At least 80 hours of supervision provided

  • At least 10 hours of supervision on supervision you have provided to trainee supervisors
